One day as a Lion EP
With Rage Against the Machine currently back together and touring, vocalist Zach de la Rocha has finally got back in the studio for some politicised rhyme-spitting- but not with RATM. “One day as a Lion” is a five-track EP collaborated on by de la Rocha and ex-Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore, and is out now on Anti.
Theodore provides rugged guitar-fused soundscapes for de la Rocha to flex over, and the result is really quite good. “Big” Zach de la Rocha even gets melodic at times, and (ironically) sounds a little like the former Soundgarden / Audioslave vocalist Chris Cornell on the hook of Ocean View- though needless to say this makes far better listening than what’s been leaked of Cornell’s current project with rap producer Timbaland.
