Art: Ashley Brossart
Ashley Brossart is a 21 year old artist from Lousiville in Kentucky.
Through applying paint onto canvas I create an abundance of information through color, texture and form; reflecting the information overload experienced while standing in the middle of a crowd of people or being engulfed in good conversation. I then sift through and select areas of key visual elements. This process is reflective of a personal, continual and constant sifting through a media and information saturated culture in effort to gather only necessary information.
Each series of works is based on its own specific subject matter and influences but the basis of finding simplicity within the chaos remains constant. More importantly, I enjoy paint as a medium and paint(ing) as an action. These two are most pure in my existence aside from the required aspects of living. I have developed a hyper-awareness for personal surroundings and I feel that it must be voiced and sifted through as it is the single most driving force for me to create art.
