Surface Emp / Proto Post

“Left Right” by Surface Emp, taken from Proto / Post
From the underworld of Glasgow’s hip-hop scene comes this highly unofficial release by Surface Emp, rescued from the broken computer of the group’s main emcee Sum Won. You might recognise some of the instrumental work as that of Warp noodler Hudson Mohawke, and the album also features 2 Can Dan on mic duties. Description from Sum Won:
“Basically my computer was frozen. I could only take these rough exports off it and I was like, ‘no ones heard this - why be precious with it. it’s not gonna get dloaded more than 20 times. no harm done. and it shuts up anyone who thought i hadn’t been rapping the last two years - or that me, dan and ross didnt make a bunch of songs together. i got a bunch of other roughs and the really early stuff too but its just too soon to be getting all nostalgic over stereo.”
